SMTA & CALCE Symposium on Counterfeit Electronic Parts and Electronic Supply Chain

The recent reports concerning the National Defense Authorization Act 2012 continue to shake up things in the Defense industry.

This past week was the SMTA & CALCE Symposium on Counterfeit Electronic Parts and Electronic Supply Chain and overall there was a strong showing across the board.

Everyone brought great examples of how industry players are taking proactive steps in developing processes and managing the risk of counterfeits in the supply chain, and developing detection and avoidance best practice.  Topics covered included everything from legalities, to registering your trademarks with Customs & Border Protection, counterfeit risk for both new and legacy parts, and the latest in test and authentication.

As the defense industry and its supply chain know, an effective solution to the counterfeit problem will require a multi-layered and collaborative solution, and the past few days brought many great examples of what those solutions could look like.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the symposium.  It was an honor, not only to present on Legacy Support best practice (counterfeit free!), but also to participate in a dialogue that impacts everyone globally.
