Embedded System’s Obsolescence SOLVED:
San Francisco, CA April 23, 2003 – GD California, Inc. and Resource Analysis Corporation (RAC), announced today at the Embedded Systems Conference launching the Commercial Version of their exciting Availability Assurance Program (AAP) the solution to DESIGN OBSOLESCENCE.
In a recent survey, system design engineers and project managers concluded that board obsolescence is the primary factor affecting long-term production costs. AAP provides assurance that these products can be produced and repaired or the life of a program (even as long as +20 YEARS). AAP does not require the purchase of any products now or in the future. It is a service that will guarantee availability. It is how you can “Protect Your Embedded Computer System Designs From Obsolescence.”
The RAC / GD California partnership provides subscribers with 2 decades of RAC’s component obsolescence tracking experience married with GD California’s 16 years experience managing and supporting close to 3,000 different legacy board products. The Availability Assurance Program (AAP) may be viewed as an Insurance Policy For Embedded Computer Designs.
Designers and Product Managers benefit from AAP by not having to redesign, re-qualify or re-spare. In most cases the combination of these expenses are over $1 Million. The Original Manufacturer supplies products to AAP subscribers than hands-off the manufacture and support to GD California, a fully licensed, qualified manufacturer.
Jerry Gipper, Director of Marketing, of Motorola Computer Group (MCG), Tempe, AZ stated “MCG is excited to included the GD California/RAC, Availability Assurance Program as part of our longevity support package. We feel AAP will provide the ultimate assurance our customers demand to be confident that Motorola based designs will survive their needs.”
“We have been working with the AEGIS and Ships Self Defense (SSDS) Navy programs as early adopters to provide them with the benefits of the Availability Assurance Program (AAP). These programs and many more Government and Military clients who use Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) products have expressed great interest and see AAP as a new and the best solution for providing long term protection from obsolescence with a high Return on Investment,” said Jeff Hanser Executive Vice President of Resource Analysis Corporation.
