>>Availability Assurance Program (AAP)
The Availability Assurance Program (AAP) is designed for customers who have a need to protect their design, development and deployment investment in a project. It is low cost and the lowest risk protection possible from the issues created when the original manufacturer (OM) decides to end the life of a product.

AAP provides obsolescence protection insurance by securing a technology transfer from the original manufacturer, stocking up components and delivering a pre-determined quantity of single board computer products at the time they are needed. Within the structure of this program, the subscriber may purchase as little or as many of the quantity entered into the subscription. However, the AAP does not require the purchase of any product. It is protection against, and clearly a better alternative to, a risky and expensive “Last Time Buy” or redesign option available when the original manufacturer decides to end a product.

AAP is offered jointly by Resource Analysis Corporation (RAC), GD California and Motorola Computer Group. www.MYAPP.com

With the purchase of an AAP subscription, customers obtain the following services.

  1. Technology Transfer
  2. Monitoring and Consignment Storage
  3. Production
  4. After Market Repair
  5. Program Closure

AAP Feasibility Study
GD California utilizes its extensive experience and knowledge to determine whether a product can be insured under the AAP program. This includes bill of material analysis, basic obsolescence prediction and manufacturability analysis.

AAP Subscription (for a single Board or the Entire Program)
When a Single Board Computer is determined to qualify for the AAP program, GD California offers customers a yearly subscription providing a guarantee for continuous availability of the product when the original manufacturer decides to discontinue the production. Each customer account is visibly and pro-actively managed via a web site www.MYAAP.com. Customers can log on to that site and monitor and update their program. With the purchase of an AAP subscription, customers obtain the following services.

Technology Transfer - Transfer of the design, manufacturing documentation and know-how, and software/firmware test technology from the original manufacturer to GD California.
Monitoring and Consignment Storage - GD California monitors the availability and obsolescence of all the components of the product and obtains needed supply. These components are kept in multiple storage locations of consigned inventory to meet current and future customer requirements.
Production - When the original manufacturer decides to discontinue its production, GD California will manufacture, test and deliver the exact same product the customer has come to depend on.
After Market Repair - As part of the contract, GD California will provide repair and maintenance services of the subscription product.
Program Closure – GD California will make all the arrangements needed to terminate the consignment inventory and allow the Customer complete flexibility to either continue or extend coverage of the Program.

AAP Obsolete Product Services
If you currently have an obsolescence issue to deal with, GD California will conduct a comprehensive study of the various options you have to deal with the problem (technology transfer, refurbished product, functional replacement, redesign, etc). GD California will then provide a detailed report on all available alternatives. This report will outline the different options and offer a detail of cost analysis and sources of each alternative. It will help you make a decision on what course of action to implement regardless if it includes GD California or not.
